AI and Agribusiness Workforce Futures

This unit examines how generative AI and agent technologies reshape careers, customer interactions, and community wellbeing in agribusiness. Students explore automation risks and opportunities, human–AI collaboration models, ethical and legal implications, and entrepreneurial strategies for solopreneurs and teams.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the impacts of generative AI on agribusiness roles by identifying tasks vulnerable to automation and those requiring uniquely human skills, citing examples from customer service, creative, legal/accounting, and technical positions
• Evaluate opportunities for agribusiness entrepreneurs and solopreneurs to leverage AI tools for marketing, operations, and customer engagement by proposing at least two viable AI-enabled business models with supporting rationale
• Apply collaborative and technical-sufficiency principles to design a human–AI workflow prototype for an agribusiness scenario (e.g., customer support, growth marketing, or accounting), including role definitions, tool choices, and performance metrics
• Demonstrate understanding of ethical, legal, and community implications of AI adoption in agribusiness by assessing privacy, access, workforce displacement, and social-wellbeing concerns and recommending mitigation or policy strategies
