Designing and Operating Supply Chains

This unit develops the operational and design skills needed to translate customer value into efficient supply chain systems. Students learn process mapping, the SCOR model, inventory and warehouse strategies, returns and asset management, and the analytics and technology needed to measure and improve performance.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze customer value, cost drivers, and SIPOC attributes to prioritize supply chain requirements and inform process design decisions
• Apply the SCOR model and process-mapping techniques to map end-to-end supply chain flows, identify trade-offs, and align resources with requirements
• Design warehouse, inventory ordering, returns, and asset-management strategies that optimize total cost and service levels, incorporating WMS/WES and automation options
• Evaluate supply chain performance using SCOR metrics and analytics tools and recommend improvements for resilience, cybersecurity, and greenhouse gas reduction
