Technology, Ethics, and Social Impact

This unit examines the convergence of emerging digital waves—web/search, social media, cloud computing, and robotics—with sustainability, ethics, and human-centered communication. Students synthesize prior technical skills to propose responsible, technology-enabled solutions and to lead cultural change toward social good in professional contexts.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the impact of emerging digital waves (web/search, social media, cloud, and human-centered technologies) on communication strategies and audience engagement, citing specific examples from course lessons.
• Apply ethical and sustainability frameworks to real-world digital communication scenarios by producing recommendations that address privacy, equity, accessibility, and environmental considerations.
• Demonstrate the ability to design a technology-enabled communication solution (incorporating cloud services, social platforms, or robotics where appropriate) and produce a concise project plan or stakeholder pitch.
