This unit introduces foundational human resources concepts, professional note-taking practices, and primary HR resources to support research and workplace problem solving. Students will synthesize introductory materials (including Chapter 2 resources) and prepare an annotated resource list to support deeper study in subsequent units.

- Analyze the role and core functions of human resources within business organizations and connect those functions to prior coursework in business, marketing, or finance
- Apply professional note-taking and organizational strategies to synthesize key concepts from introductory HR content and classroom discussions
- Demonstrate how to locate, access, and navigate primary HR reference materials and digital tools introduced in Resources—Part 1 and Chapter 2
- Evaluate the credibility, relevance, and applicability of HR resources and produce an annotated resource list to guide learning in later units
