Becoming Irreplaceable in an AI Age

This unit explores how networking professionals can become irreplaceable by leveraging uniquely human strengths, responsibly integrating AI tools, and preparing organizations for change. Students will examine AI limitations, build augmentation workflows, assess data and ethical readiness, and create personal and business strategies for resilience and future skills.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the characteristics that distinguish IRREPLACEABLE roles from replaceable roles by comparing real-world case studies and identifying at least five human skills that add enduring value in networking contexts
• Apply AI-augmentation techniques to common networking tasks by designing and demonstrating two workflow prototypes that combine human judgment with AI assistance and documenting measurable efficiency or quality improvements
• Evaluate an organization’s AI-readiness by conducting a data management, ethics, and change-readiness assessment and producing a prioritized report with at least three actionable recommendations for becoming AI-ready and human-ready
• Demonstrate strategies for personal and organizational resilience by creating a professional development plan and an AI-use policy summary that address adaptability, distraction management, ethical use, and future skill evolution
