Practical AI-Assisted Business Writing

This unit develops practical skills for producing clear, audience-focused business communications using both human-centered techniques and AI tools. Students learn to craft precise prompts, overcome writer’s block, collaborate on and transform documents, select appropriate AI tools, and evaluate and revise AI-generated content for tone, accuracy, and professional boundaries, preparing them for advanced applications in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze target readers and adapt tone, structure, and content for at least three common business contexts (e.g., email, memo, marketing blurb) to improve clarity and persuasiveness
• Apply prompt-design strategies and select appropriate AI writing tools to generate and iteratively refine two distinct business documents (one email and one longer document) that meet specified objectives and audience needs
• Demonstrate both AI-assisted and non-AI techniques to overcome writer’s block, producing an initial draft within a timed exercise and documenting the strategies used
• Evaluate AI-generated content for voice consistency, accuracy, ethical concerns, and organizational appropriateness, and revise outputs to align with email boundaries, collaboration norms, and branding
