Project Planning and Leadership

This unit develops foundational project-management skills including scope definition, work breakdown structures, communication planning, team leadership, time management, negotiation, risk identification, and progress reporting. It builds on introductory career and pathway concepts and prepares students to implement and monitor projects in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze project scope, constraints, drivers, and stakeholders to produce a work breakdown structure (WBS) and a prioritized risk log.
• Apply audience analysis and communication strategies to select appropriate media, craft messages, and prepare a written project-progress report.
• Demonstrate leadership, delegation, and negotiation techniques (including concessions versus conditions) to assign tasks and motivate team members.
• Evaluate personal organization and time-management practices by calculating hourly income, setting short- and long-range goals, and creating a daily prioritization plan.
