Resumes, Screening, and Interviews

This unit develops practical application materials and interview competencies needed for successful job hunting, emphasizing resume construction, online screening, and a broad range of interview question types and formats. Students will practice professional presentation, prepare for technology-driven and psychometric assessments, and learn follow-up and accommodation strategies to improve job-match outcomes.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze common interview question types (behavioral, leading, closed, numerical, and situational) and construct concise, job-relevant responses using appropriate organizational patterns and examples
• Apply resume and application best practices by producing a functional-format CV, incorporating job-specific keywords, completing education/training worksheets, and drafting tailored follow-up correspondence
• Demonstrate professional interview readiness by practicing openings, nonverbal behaviors (eye contact, dress), handling hi-tech and online interview issues, and responding effectively to screening and psychometric testing scenarios
• Evaluate personal fit and barriers by assessing strengths, skill gaps, accommodation needs, and follow-up actions (including strategies to overcome procrastination and improve workplace decision-making) to plan next career steps
