Workplace Productivity and Teamwork

This unit develops foundational personal and interpersonal skills required to thrive in a professional environment, including goal setting, time and space management, teamwork, and negotiation. Students will translate self-assessment into concrete plans and systems that increase individual productivity and support effective team contributions, preparing them for advanced workplace communication and project-focused units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze hallmarks of professional success by completing a self-assessment and producing a personalized professional development plan with at least three targeted improvement actions.
• Apply goal-setting frameworks (e.g., SMART) and time-blocking techniques to create a prioritized two-week action schedule that aligns with short-term objectives.
• Demonstrate effective team collaboration and negotiation skills by participating in a team simulation, negotiating roles/responsibilities, and submitting a reflective report with peer feedback.
• Evaluate workspace organization and interruption-management strategies by redesigning a work area or routine, implementing at least two changes, and documenting measured improvements in task completion or focus.
