Interactive and Data-Driven Web Development

This unit teaches students to add interactivity, data collection, and dynamic content to websites using client-side JavaScript, basic server-side PHP, and CMS integration. It builds on foundational HTML/CSS skills and prepares learners to deploy and maintain dynamic sites in the final unit.
Learning Objectives
- Implement client-side interactivity by creating JavaScript-driven animations, event handlers, DOM manipulations, and debugging cross-browser issues
- Apply JavaScript and Dreamweaver tools to design, build, and validate web forms for user input and to integrate client-side validation with server-side processing
- Develop and test server-side PHP scripts to collect, sanitize, and store form data and to gather and embed live external data (APIs, feeds) into web pages
- Integrate a WordPress blog into an existing site by configuring installation, selecting and applying themes/plugins, and connecting blog content with site navigation and data workflows
