Mobile App Integration and UI

This unit focuses on integrating user interface components, programming constructs, and data sources to build functional mobile applications. Students will use development tools (including Android Studio), implement UI elements, consume and clean data from web and NoSQL sources, and apply coding best practices in preparation for capstone projects.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and adapt user interfaces for multiple device sizes by applying responsive layout techniques (e.g., Bootstrap, Android Studio layout tools) and implementing UI components such as radio buttons, drop-downs, and lists to meet specified design criteria.
• Apply programming constructs including arrays, methods, scope, constants, anonymous functions, and inheritance to implement app logic, pass data between components, and manipulate DOM or view elements programmatically.
• Demonstrate the ability to integrate external data by accessing web APIs and NoSQL databases, handling missing or malformed data, filtering and transforming datasets, and implementing named routes for two-way data passing and navigation.
• Evaluate and improve code quality and maintainability by commenting, using constants, running and debugging sample programs, creating and appending elements dynamically, and preparing deployable application artifacts.
