WordPress Site Management and Customization

This unit focuses on practical site administration, theme and content customization, media management, and maintenance workflows for WordPress. Students will build skills in multisite administration, manual upgrades, plugin/theme management, content publishing, SEO/compliance tools, and migration/backup procedures to prepare for advanced site development and deployment.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze WordPress deployment options by comparing single-site and multisite (Network) setups and documenting the steps to enable, install, and manage the Network Admin dashboard.
• Apply theme and presentation customization techniques to create custom styles for sticky, category, and tag posts, modify font family/color/size, assemble themes using widgets and navigation menus, and add support for taxonomies and custom post types.
• Demonstrate content creation and media management skills by using the Block Editor, inserting and configuring video and audio files, refining post options, and implementing Yoast SEO and GDPR/CCPA cookie notice features.
• Evaluate and execute site maintenance and migration procedures by performing manual WordPress upgrades, manually installing and activating plugins, importing/migrating existing sites, and creating/restoring backups with BackupBuddy.
