This capstone unit consolidates core Python concepts by teaching students to work with the standard library, packages, modules, and web data (including JSON). Students will practice debugging, error handling, and Pythonic coding habits while learning to use online and AI resources to troubleshoot and extend their programs.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate how to serialize and deserialize Python data and interact with web resources using JSON and simple web APIs
- Apply the Python standard library and third-party packages by importing modules, managing packages, and integrating external libraries to extend program functionality
- Analyze and debug Python programs by identifying syntax and runtime errors, using debugging techniques and online/AI resources to produce corrected code
- Evaluate code structure and style for Pythonic practices—including indentation, variable usage, list manipulation, control flow, and function design—and refactor code to improve readability and maintainability
