This capstone unit integrates creative, technical, ethical, and community-building skills to prepare learners to launch and grow a podcast. Students will finalize episode production workflows, guest and interview practices, distribution and posting strategies, and audience engagement plans while addressing AI ethics and reputation management.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze genre conventions and audience expectations across comedy, gaming, slice-of-life, and meta-podcasting to design a 5–10 episode launch plan with a defined posting schedule and community engagement strategy
- Apply technical and production best practices (environment control, guest audio standards, voicemail integration, camera technique, and music/licensing awareness) to produce release-ready episodes that meet specified audio/video quality criteria
- Demonstrate professional interview and guest-management skills by preparing interview materials, executing structured interviews without ‘winging it,’ ensuring equal audio quality for guests, and using feedback channels to iterate on performance
- Evaluate growth and moderation strategies—including Discord community management, handling negative comments, and ethical use of AI tools—and create a launch checklist that measures readiness and post-launch metrics for continuous improvement
