This unit introduces the core principles, processes, and roles that shape effective instructional design. Students will examine alignment, needs analysis, learning types, design frameworks, delivery modes, and objective writing to prepare for applied design and development in subsequent units.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze core principles of instructional design, including alignment, planning considerations, and the role of the instructional designer, to explain how these principles guide effective instruction
- Apply needs-analysis techniques and stakeholder questioning to identify and document instructional needs, gaps, and goals for a specified instructional context
- Evaluate and compare instructional-design frameworks and delivery modes (including open-ended frameworks and collaborative activities) to recommend appropriate approaches for different types of learning
- Create measurable instructional objectives aligned to Bloom’s taxonomy and associated assessment criteria to determine success measures for an instructional unit
