This unit develops practical skills in structuring web content with HTML5, styling and enhancing pages with CSS/CSS3, and producing visual and audio/video assets for the web. Students will use Dreamweaver CS6 and introductory Fireworks/Photoshop workflows to create buttons, banners, and embedded media that are optimized for cross‑browser delivery. The unit builds on introductory markup skills and prepares learners for advanced interactivity, responsive design, and site deployment in subsequent units.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze HTML5 semantic elements and apply them to create well-structured, accessible multi-page layouts implemented in Dreamweaver CS6
- Apply CSS fundamentals and CSS3 techniques to style typography, control layout, and add transforms/effects that improve visual hierarchy and user experience
- Demonstrate the ability to integrate external and embedded CSS within Dreamweaver, and produce site assets (buttons, banners) using Fireworks and Photoshop workflows
- Evaluate, create, and optimize audio and video content for web delivery, including embedding methods and cross-browser compatibility considerations
