Enterprise Network Deployment and Management

This capstone unit guides students through implementing, securing, and troubleshooting enterprise network services with virtualization, storage, and backup solutions. Learners will integrate HCI and cloud options, perform user and access administration, and apply diagnostic and security practices to support production networks.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze network requirements and design a topology and TCP/IP addressing plan that incorporates WAN connectivity options (e.g., Ethernet private line) and positions virtualization/HCI resources for resiliency and performance.
• Apply virtualization and software-defined infrastructure skills to provision hosts, create virtual machines and virtual disks, configure virtual hosts, and integrate HCI clusters into an operational environment.
• Demonstrate account and access management by creating organizational units and groups, performing user lifecycle tasks (create, disable, delete, reset passwords, enable root/use sudo), and implementing access rules and aliases to enforce policies.
• Evaluate and implement backup, security, and troubleshooting solutions by configuring backup appliances and file-based backups, applying virus and spam mitigation, testing connectivity with diagnostic commands/tools (e.g., pathping), configuring DNS reverse lookup zones, and delivering remote assistance/documentation.
