Designing and Implementing Instruction

This unit guides learners through applied instructional design work: conducting needs and task analyses, selecting appropriate design models and technologies, and preparing materials for implementation. Students will learn to sequence objectives, create accessible multimedia and interactive activities, account for budget and rate-of-change, and prepare implementation and feedback plans that support iterative revisions.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze learner needs, task requirements, and contextual constraints (including budget and rate of content change) by conducting needs analyses and task analyses to prioritize instructional goals.
• Apply instructional design models and sequencing principles to select instructional methods and link strategies with technology that align to defined learning objectives.
• Design accessible multimedia and a variety of interactive instructional activities that integrate formative feedback mechanisms and accommodate diverse learner needs.
• Prepare an implementation plan and evaluation strategy (including completion of an implementation preparation worksheet) that addresses logistics, stakeholder consultation, and steps for revising instruction after piloting.
