AI Strategy, Governance, and Futures

This culminating unit integrates prior technical and ethical content to help nonprofit leaders plan, govern, fund, and scale AI responsibly. Learners will synthesize regulatory frameworks, build adoption roadmaps and budgets, design capacity‑building programs, and assess long‑term ethical and societal implications to lead AI initiatives that center mission and equity.

Learning Objectives

• analyze key external drivers and regulatory frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act, NIST RMF, Singapore model, EU HLEG) and identify at least three compliance, risk, or trust implications for a nonprofit AI adoption plan
• apply strategic planning methods to produce a 6–12 month AI adoption roadmap that includes explicit goals, budget estimates, team roles, governance mechanisms, and measurable impact metrics
• demonstrate capacity‑building and deployment readiness by creating a training and pilot implementation plan that outlines required skills, learning resources, fundraising/financial supports, and a timeline for scaling
• evaluate ethical, equity, and long‑term risks (including deepfakes, agentive AI, personalization, and emerging technologies) and recommend governance policies and mitigation strategies that align with the organization’s mission
