Deploying and Sustaining Lean Six Sigma

This capstone unit guides students through selecting, launching, implementing, and sustaining Lean Six Sigma projects and programs. Students learn project selection and DMAIC setup, measure and confirm benefits, plan governance and training, and prepare communication and knowledge‑sharing strategies to maintain continuous improvement.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze customer CTQs, process data, and selection criteria to generate and prioritize a list of candidate improvement projects for DMAIC implementation
• Apply DMAIC project setup and execution practices to implement solutions, establish process controls, and conduct a final benefit review with a concise one‑page project summary
• Evaluate organizational readiness and sustainability factors—including sponsor roles, training needs, software/consulting resources, and resistance risks—to design a deployment strategy aligned with business goals
• Demonstrate methods for documenting and sharing lessons learned, building networks, and using conferences, periodicals, and associations to sustain continuous improvement and prevent complacency
