DevOps Foundations and Culture

This unit introduces core DevOps principles, the cultural and organizational practices that enable continuous delivery, and foundational technical patterns such as testing, CI/CD, and automation. Students will assess culture and waste, measure progress, and design introductory team and feedback processes that prepare them for hands‑on implementation in later units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze core DevOps principles and cultural indicators by completing a culture‑health assessment and identifying at least five actionable improvement areas
• Apply lean waste identification techniques to a sample software delivery flow to detect the seven types of waste and propose a prioritized remediation plan
• Demonstrate a basic CI/CD workflow by configuring an automated build, test, and release sequence for a sample application and documenting test results and release artifacts
• Evaluate team structures, communication strategies, and automation opportunities and produce a plan that integrates cross‑functional roles, customer feedback loops, and open‑source/cloud considerations for scalable DevOps adoption
