Foundations of Microsoft 365 Copilot

This unit introduces the role of AI in the modern workplace and the capabilities of Microsoft 365 Copilot, framing the business rationale for adoption and identifying appropriate users for Copilot Studio. Students will learn core AI concepts and prepare a concise, evidence-based business case and presentation to support deeper technical and implementation work in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze workplace workflows to identify at least three specific opportunities where AI and Microsoft 365 Copilot can improve efficiency, accuracy, or collaboration, citing supporting evidence or metrics.
• Demonstrate practical use of Microsoft 365 Copilot by completing guided tasks across core apps (e.g., draft an email, summarize a document, generate a Teams agenda) that show integration and assistant capabilities.
• Evaluate the business case for Copilot by developing a concise cost-benefit summary that addresses expected benefits, potential risks, and a high-level ROI estimate for a selected scenario.
• Apply foundational AI concepts and stakeholder analysis to prepare and deliver a 5-minute presentation recommending who should use Copilot Studio within an organization and justifying the recommendation.
