Foundations of Microsoft 365

This unit introduces core Microsoft 365 apps, cloud collaboration workflows, and device/persona management to establish the practical foundation students need for effective office productivity. Learners will explore Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, Word/Excel/PowerPoint basics, and introductory Power Platform/Power BI concepts to prepare for deeper application and automation work in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate proficiency in selecting and using core Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) by completing common productivity tasks such as creating, formatting, and sharing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
• Apply collaborative and communication features of Microsoft 365 by scheduling and managing Teams meetings/webinars, using chat and calling, sharing and coauthoring files through Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint, and configuring meeting prerequisites (agenda, attendees, permissions)
• Analyze basic data-collection and visualization scenarios by gathering data with Forms or other intake methods, performing elementary data operations in Excel, and describing foundational Power BI concepts to choose appropriate tools for reporting
• Evaluate and configure personal and device settings for OneDrive/SharePoint sync, Outlook account management, privacy, and security features to ensure files, accounts, and devices are organized, accessible, and protected
