Integrated Systems Review and Practice

This capstone unit synthesizes anatomy and physiology concepts across body systems with emphasis on reproduction, digestion, musculoskeletal function, neural control, sensory processes, aging, and sleep. Students apply knowledge through clinical reasoning, hands‑on identification and assessment tasks, and structured review to prepare for advanced coursework and career‑focused expectations.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze interactions among major body systems (nervous, endocrine, muscular, skeletal, cardiovascular, digestive, and reproductive) to explain physiological events such as parturition, digestion, respiration, and aging and predict consequences of dysfunction.
• Apply anatomical and functional knowledge to accurately identify muscles, joints, skeletal landmarks, and accessory structures and perform basic assessments of swallowing, leverage, and autonomic responses using models or case scenarios.
• Demonstrate clinical reasoning by interpreting sensory findings, autonomic nervous system responses, sleep physiology, and cardiovascular or digestive presentations to generate differential diagnoses and propose appropriate next steps.
• Evaluate personal learning gaps and assessment performance by reviewing mistakes, collaborating in study groups, and developing a targeted remediation plan to strengthen anatomy and physiology competency.
