Mastering Professional Networking

This capstone unit synthesizes advanced interpersonal and listening strategies to strengthen professional relationships, reinforce follow-up practices, and maintain ethical networking behaviors. Students will practice recall and organization techniques, apply sensory and responsive communication skills, and identify/avoid common networking pitfalls to sustain long-term professional connections.

• Analyze professional networking interactions to identify effective listening, name-recall, and follow-up techniques and recommend improvements
• Apply laser-listening and multisensory recall strategies to demonstrate accurate, timely follow-up and reinforced connections in simulated networking scenarios
• Demonstrate organized systems for tracking contacts, goals, and actions, and create a plan that shows consistent giver-receiver behavior to cultivate professional opportunities
• Evaluate common networking mistakes (e.g., overselling, insincerity, overly personal interactions) and implement corrective communication strategies that maintain professionalism and rapport
