Practical Generative AI Content Creation

This unit develops applied skills for using generative AI to produce, refine, and govern a range of creative and professional content (white papers, blogs, news, storyboards, and multimedia). Students practice structured prompt design, persona/role assignment, model tailoring, and implement human-in-the-loop quality control and ethical safeguards to prepare for advanced deployment and evaluation in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the characteristics and limitations of generative AI outputs (e.g., hallucinations, the ‘finger problem’, stylistic drift) and identify specific human oversight and fact-checking interventions for at least three content types (white papers, news articles, multimedia).
• Apply structured prompt-design strategies and persona/role techniques to produce and iteratively refine targeted content examples—creating at least one white paper section, one short news article, one blog post, and one storyboard or multimedia script—documenting prompt variations and outcome changes.
• Demonstrate selection and basic customization of GenAI tools (mini GPTs, GPT app stores, model settings) for a specialized topic by configuring or choosing an appropriate mini-app, executing a content task, and documenting the rationale and observed performance differences.
• Evaluate ethical, legal, and safety considerations (journalism ethics, attribution, hazards, responsible AI practices) and develop a documented quality-control workflow that includes source attribution, human review checkpoints, and strategies for reinforcing or correcting model behavior.
