Python Robotics and AI Integration

This capstone unit brings together Python programming, hardware control, and basic AI to build, test, and deploy complete robot behaviors. Students will integrate sensors and actuators, manage development environments, handle data and exceptions, and evaluate program structure to prepare for advanced networking and AI coursework.

Learning Objectives

• Implement and test a complete Python control program that integrates sensors, actuators (LEDs, motors), and trained AI models to perform behaviors such as find-and-chase using the provided project structure and main program.
• Configure and manage Python development environments (virtual environments and included Adeept software) and deploy working code to robotics hardware for validation.
• Apply robust data and error-handling techniques by converting CSV files to objects/dictionaries, reading and writing binary files, accounting for time zones, and implementing try…except…else…finally blocks and custom exceptions to ensure reliable operation.
• Analyze and optimize program structure using classes, inheritance, methods, anonymous functions, and unit-testing/debugging practices, and evaluate design choices for future extension into AI and networking topics.
