This unit examines the societal, cultural, ethical, economic, and environmental implications of agentic AI and revisits foundational principles of intelligence that inform design. Students will connect theoretical concepts (Agent Intelligence Pyramid, orchestration vs. solo agents) to real-world impacts on education, the workforce, and sustainability, preparing them to design responsible user experiences in subsequent units.

- Analyze cultural and ethical implications of agentic AI by identifying stakeholder perspectives, potential biases, and scenarios that produce harms or benefits
- Evaluate economic, educational, and environmental impacts of autonomous systems by comparing alternative adoption scenarios and projecting workforce and learning outcomes
- Demonstrate understanding of agentic AI and first principles of intelligence by mapping agent behaviors to components of the Agent Intelligence Pyramid and distinguishing orchestration from single-agent approaches
- Apply risk-assessment and design frameworks to propose technical and UX mitigation strategies that address privacy, transparency, accountability, and sustainability concerns
