This unit examines how successive computing waves and enterprise software have reshaped organizations, data practices, and opportunities for sustainable, ethical innovation across industries including science, medicine, and recruiting. Students explore data treatment, cross-functional decision-making, and brand implications of ‘tech for good’ initiatives while preparing to design responsible digital solutions in the capstone unit.

• Analyze the effects of computing waves (personal computers/client-server and enterprise software) on organizational structure, business models, and C‑suite roles using two real-world case studies from the lessons
• Apply principles of responsible data treatment to develop a data governance checklist that addresses privacy, accuracy, and sustainability considerations for a hypothetical digital communications project
• Demonstrate how technology-driven initiatives can advance scientific and medical outcomes by creating a brief implementation plan that maps stakeholders, resources, and measurable impact indicators
• Evaluate a proposed ‘tech for good’ effort for organizational readiness, ecosystem fit, and brand impact, and recommend three cross-functional strategies to increase its likelihood of success
