Windows 11 Fundamentals and Navigation

This unit introduces students to Windows 11 essentials, including interface navigation, file and app management, basic networking, and built-in productivity and security tools. Students will gain hands-on experience configuring accounts and networks, organizing and protecting files, and using native apps (Outlook, Notepad, Copilot) to prepare for more advanced networking and systems coursework.

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate efficient navigation and customization of the Windows 11 user interface, including the Start menu, taskbar, desktop, window sizing, and virtual desktops
• Apply file and system management skills to create, organize, locate, back up, and convert files and folders (including File History and PDF creation) while addressing permissions and recovering lost windows
• Configure user and network settings by adding Microsoft and local accounts, connecting to wired and wireless networks or an ISP, setting up printers, and establishing email in Outlook
• Evaluate and apply basic security and productivity features—Windows Security, permission prompts, system updates, screen recording, and AI-assisted tools (Copilot, photo enhancement)—to maintain system integrity and prepare for advanced networking topics
