This unit develops practical skills for managing, personalizing, securing, and recovering Windows 11 systems while using cloud and AI tools to increase productivity. Students will apply file and image management techniques, configure accounts and device settings, troubleshoot apps and drivers, and implement backup, recovery, and security measures in preparation for advanced networking and administration topics.

Learning Objectives

Configure and personalize Windows 11 system settings and accounts, including taskbar behavior, virtual desktops, user account pictures, default app associations, and device storage options (flash drives, memory cards).
Demonstrate file, image, and cloud storage management by cropping and resizing images, locating and restoring files, using OneDrive, and restoring data from File History and a created recovery drive.
Troubleshoot and maintain applications and devices by diagnosing and resolving broken apps, installing or removing apps from the Microsoft Store and third-party sources, and updating or rolling back drivers to restore functionality.
Analyze and apply security and productivity features by identifying phishing and other threats, configuring UAC and password/parental controls, setting up remote and network resource access, and using built-in AI/Copilot and search tools to gather information and assist with tasks.
