This unit expands foundational C# skills into advanced object-oriented and application-development topics. Students will work with inheritance, polymorphism, interfaces, delegates, advanced language features, file I/O and basic secure UI development using Visual Studio and XAML to prepare for larger application and systems development tasks in subsequent units.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze and compare static and instance methods and apply access modifiers to design and implement appropriate method signatures and class member visibility in C# projects.
- Apply object-oriented principles to design and implement class hierarchies that use inheritance, polymorphism, interfaces, overrides, and abstract types (for example a BankAccount-derived design) with accompanying unit tests.
- Demonstrate use of advanced language features — including delegates, named parameters, structs, enums, custom exceptions, generics, and indexers — by producing working code samples that show correct usage and error handling.
- Evaluate and implement data persistence and basic secure user interfaces by using file I/O and serialization, Visual Studio project/templates, XAML layout and binding, and UWP considerations while following security best practices.
