Interactive Front-End Development

This unit synthesizes core HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills to build interactive, accessible, and responsive web pages. Students deepen their ability to manipulate the DOM, manage data and control flow, debug scripts, and apply accessibility and mobile-first design practices in preparation for advanced front-end work and capstone projects.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and debug JavaScript and DOM code using developer tools and debugging strategies to identify and correct common syntax, runtime, and logic errors, including infinite-loop conditions
• Apply DOM manipulation, event handling, timers, and external JavaScript files to implement dynamic page behaviors such as modifying elements, attributes, styles, and responding to form and user events
• Demonstrate effective use of data structures and control flow by creating and manipulating arrays (including multidimensional), writing and returning values from functions (anonymous and arrow), and implementing loops (for, do…while) to process and persist data in web storage
• Evaluate and implement accessibility and responsive design best practices by ensuring keyboard operability, sufficient color contrast and semantic markup, and by applying mobile-first layout techniques (including grid alignment and sizing) to produce usable pages across devices
