Advanced Interview & Employer Evaluation

This capstone unit synthesizes advanced interviewing tactics, employer evaluation, negotiation, and proactive job-search strategies. Students learn to recognize red flags, overcome communication or experience gaps, conduct effective networking and outreach, and create a measurable follow-up plan to enter the workforce with confidence.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze employer behaviors, interview cues, and question types to identify at least five warning signs of poor job fit and justify recommendations in a written evaluation
• Apply advanced job-search and negotiation techniques—including LinkedIn engagement, cold outreach, networking strategies, and salary/offer negotiation—by developing a personalized outreach sequence and practicing a negotiation script in role-play
• Demonstrate professional communication strategies for common barriers (limited experience, recent layoffs, language differences, introversion, and inappropriate interviewer questions) during a simulated interview, using STAR responses and reframing techniques
• Evaluate and produce a 30-day post-interview follow-up and tracking plan that sets measurable targets (contacts, follow-ups, applications, and informational interviews) and adjusts search priorities based on employer fit
