This unit introduces core GIS concepts, ArcGIS software components, and primary data types and reference systems. Students will learn file organization, basic navigation in ArcCatalog and ArcMap, vector and raster fundamentals, and perform introductory geoprocessing and 3D visualization tasks to prepare for deeper spatial analysis in subsequent units.
