Lean Six Sigma Deployment and Sustainment

This unit develops the skills needed to plan, launch, and sustain Lean Six Sigma initiatives in diverse energy and process-technology settings. Students will learn diagnostic tools, improvement methods (flow, Kanban, QFD, preventive maintenance), and change-management and communication strategies to quantify opportunity and avoid common project pitfalls.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze organizational culture, size, and sector factors to determine their impact on selecting and tailoring Lean Six Sigma tools and deployment strategies
• Apply root-cause analysis, flow-improvement, Kanban, QFD, and preventive-maintenance concepts to identify and plan targeted process improvements
• Demonstrate the ability to develop a deployment plan that quantifies opportunity (metrics and CTQs), assigns roles (including deployment program manager), sequences improvements, and integrates Agile/Lean approaches
• Evaluate change-management, communication, and risk-mitigation strategies (including bias avoidance, stakeholder engagement, the golden thread narrative, and use of social/media channels) to sustain continuous improvement and prevent common program failures
