Origins and Mechanics of Hyperintelligence

This unit examines the historical, biological, technological, and economic foundations that enable hyperintelligent systems, from the evolution of communication and cognition to data economies, genetic tools, and energy/health infrastructures. Learners will connect scientific principles and historical revolutions to contemporary AI architectures and societal implications, preparing them to assess risks and design organizational responses.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze historical and evolutionary developments (language, printing, trade, technology, and genetics) and map how they collectively enabled increasingly complex information and intelligence systems.
• Evaluate technological and economic drivers—including data/tokenization, distributed organizations (DAOs), virtual worlds, pharmaceutical and genetic industries, and energy solutions—and predict their likely impacts on business structures and societal organization.
• Demonstrate understanding of cognitive and neural principles (brain mass, sensations, emotions, moral instincts) and compare these with architectures and behaviors of agentic artificial systems to assess alignment, ethical concerns, and freedom of action.
• Apply systems thinking to design organizational strategies and governance interventions that mitigate risks and leverage opportunities posed by hyperintelligence in health, environment, and marketplace contexts.
