PowerPoint Foundations with Copilot

This unit establishes foundational skills for creating effective Microsoft PowerPoint presentations using core interface features and Copilot-assisted workflows. Students will learn file management, design and layout principles, and how to insert and format common multimedia and data visuals to prepare for more advanced design and automation topics in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate navigation of the PowerPoint interface, including Backstage View, the Ribbon (Design, Transitions, Animations), Slide Masters, and basic file management tasks such as saving frequently and exporting to PDF
• Apply Microsoft Copilot to generate and refine presentation content by using the Copilot sidebar, composing clear prompts, and comparing free versus paid Copilot options
• Analyze and select appropriate themes, templates, fonts, text formatting, and slide layouts to ensure readability and alignment with presentation purpose
• Create and integrate multimedia and data visuals—insert and format images, drawings, charts, SmartArt, audio, and video—and use collaboration features to prepare a shareable slide deck
