Python Data, Tools, and Error Handling

This unit develops practical Python skills for working with core data structures, I/O, and program robustness while introducing productivity tools and external packages. Students will practice string and list manipulation, file and basic network I/O, exception handling, and using IDEs, documentation tools, and simple GUIs to build and present small applications.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and manipulate strings and collections by applying slicing, searching, modification, list-based stacks and queues, and iteration to solve given programming tasks
• Apply file and basic network input/output techniques to read, update, and persist data and to perform simple administrative or connectivity tasks in sample programs
• Demonstrate robust error handling and debugging by using try/except/finally, raising and creating custom exceptions, and employing inspection and testing strategies to diagnose and fix faults
• Evaluate and integrate external tools and resources by installing and inspecting packages, using an IDE and development editors, generating documentation, and creating a simple TkInter GUI or formatted output for presentation
