Web3, GenAI, and Immersive Media

This capstone unit explores the convergence of generative AI, Web 3.0, the metaverse, and extended-reality devices, with attention to security, identity, and real-world business applications. Students synthesize prior learning to plan, evaluate, and prototype responsible, user-centered digital communications solutions appropriate for emerging platforms and audiences.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the implications of GenAI, conversational AI, AGI, Web 3.0, NFTs, the metaverse, 5G-connected clothing, and XR headsets by identifying at least three concrete industry use cases and two technical or ethical risks for each technology area
• Evaluate authentication, privacy, and governance trade-offs (public vs. private networks, passwords vs. passkeys, on‑chain identity) by comparing options and recommending an approach for at least two distinct organizational scenarios with justification
• Apply change-management and implementation principles to produce a pilot plan for an AI or immersive-media prototype (pilot scope, MVP features, stakeholders, timeline, data requirements, and success metrics) suitable for a classroom hackathon or workplace proof-of-concept
• Demonstrate user-focused digital communications skills by producing an online-presence strategy and a low-fidelity prototype or UX flow that supports a frictionless commerce or metaverse experience, including accessibility and measurement considerations
