Advanced Web Application Development

This unit advances students’ full‑stack web development skills by integrating server‑side PHP/MySQL techniques with client‑side JavaScript, AJAX, and modern front‑end design practices. Students will build, test, and enhance production‑style features such as shopping carts, authentication, MVC structure, WordPress plugins, responsive layouts, forms, and animations.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and refactor application architecture by implementing MVC patterns, microframework components, and modular file inclusion to improve maintainability and reuse
• Apply advanced PHP and MySQL techniques—including class extension, session management, date/time functions, image handling, and shopping cart logic—to build secure, stateful server‑side functionality
• Demonstrate client‑side integration skills by transferring data with AJAX, manipulating the DOM, enhancing HTML5 forms and validation, and implementing responsive design with media queries and CSS effects
• Evaluate and test web applications and components—using debugging strategies, usability/layout checks, WordPress/plugin integration, and performance considerations—to prepare deployable, production‑ready sites
