Classroom Management, Ethics, and Communication

This capstone unit integrates professional routines, digital classroom management, ethical decision-making, communication, and assessment practices for first-year teachers. It builds on foundational instructional planning and prepares candidates to respond to real-world incidents, stakeholder interactions, and continuous professional growth.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze realistic classroom scenarios (discipline incidents, sexual harassment allegations, administrator conflicts) and produce written justifications that align with school policy, legal obligations, and professional ethics.
• Apply digital classroom management techniques (mute/disable microphones and cameras, enable background blur, record lessons appropriately) in a simulated online lesson and document privacy and safety safeguards used.
• Demonstrate stakeholder communication and collaboration skills by drafting and role‑playing appropriate responses to parent complaints, public student encounters, and colleague conflicts, and by creating a multi‑channel communication plan.
• Design and evaluate assessment, feedback, incentive, and reflective strategies—selecting multiple assessment methods, drafting timely feedback examples, and creating an action plan for unexpected classroom events to improve student engagement and professional practice.
