Intermediate C#: Data, UI, OOP

This unit advances students’ C# skills by focusing on data access and manipulation, graphical and XAML-based user interfaces, and intermediate object-oriented language features. Students will build, integrate, and harden applications that consume streams, web APIs, and databases while practicing reusable design and robust error handling in preparation for cross-platform .NET Core development.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and parse data from files, streams, web APIs, and databases using StreamReader, System.Net, System.Data, and appropriate reader/writer patterns to prepare data for application use.
• Implement responsive desktop and UWP user interfaces by creating WPF/XAML layouts, applying data binding, and using custom and routed commands while integrating System.Drawing where appropriate.
• Apply intermediate C# language features—including dynamic typing, local functions, target typing, ref/out and ref struct usage, sealing classes, and predefined interfaces—and organize code into reusable class libraries.
• Evaluate and implement robust exception-handling, null-safety, floating-point handling, and testing strategies to improve application reliability and readiness for .NET Core deployment.
