NCLEX‑RN Clinical Practice & Strategies

This unit integrates clinical skills, patient-care procedures, safety protocols, and NCLEX‑RN test-taking strategies to prepare students for licensure and clinical practicum. Students will practice applying the nursing process to exam-style questions while demonstrating safe therapeutic interventions, professional communication, and incident documentation.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze NCLEX‑style questions using the nursing process, keyword identification, process of elimination, and test‑taking strategies to select the most appropriate response and manage answer review on exam day
• Apply safe therapeutic nursing interventions—including personal hygiene care, parenteral therapy, conscious sedation monitoring, preparation/transport for diagnostic tests, and therapeutic procedures—while documenting care and recognizing indications for escalation
• Demonstrate professional communication, cultural competence, patient teaching, discharge planning, and appropriate responses to abuse, high‑risk behaviors, and alternate lifestyle choices, including completion of teaching plans and incident reports
• Evaluate patient safety, legal/ethical considerations, and workplace readiness by preparing incident reports, verifying informed consent and sedation safety, and relating clinical actions to licensure preparation and NCLEX requirements
