This unit focuses on advanced financial controls, change management, procurement decisions, and project closeout processes for custom home building. It also develops professional practices—documentation, social media, networks, continuing education, software, and consulting—that sustain quality, compliance, and career growth after construction completion.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze project budgets, lender requirements, payment distribution methods, and credit strategies to quantify cost impacts and identify mitigation options for budget overruns
• Apply change-management and procurement procedures—including change orders, land purchase considerations, alternative construction methods, and contractor payment flows—to maintain schedule, scope, and cost control
• Demonstrate the ability to produce a project closeout package (one-page project summary, warranty/maintenance plan, as-built documentation, and lessons-learned report) and use software tools to keep records current
• Evaluate professional development and business-sustainment options (networks, associations, conferences, publications, training/consulting services, and social media) and create a plan to maintain competency and share best practices
